Lookout Towers have a natural appeal to them. Perched above a craggy mountain top they seems to paint a picture of grit, solitude, and romance. Where there once stood a solitary soldier fighting mother nature's lightning wrath, now stands those interested to revisit this piece of our history, where there was once over 4,000 of these fire towers topping our mountains.
With bare amenities these lookout towers and former forest service cabins are a highlight each summer and winter for copious individuals. For more information look at www.recreation.gov.
